I’ve been a reader for far longer than I’ve been a writer. In fact, I’ve been a reader since I could first hold a book. I found romance in seventh grade while studying science in the library. I used to sit in the way back, and it just so happened that there were racks of wickedly naughty historicals back there. I’d tucked them into my science book and read the afternoons away. Instead of learning the table of elements, I learned history. I learned about pirates and England and France and the American colonies. I also got quite the sex education. Those historicals were hot stuff!

But mostly I learned about love. I learned what a true hero was, and it stuck with me for years, until I became a writer. From my very first book, it’s been about the hero. I like torturing them. That’s no secret. I like them to be brought low by life or love or whatever floats my boat, and then I like love to come in and save the day. Some heroes are resistant to this, the silly, silly men, and few have been more resistant than this summer’s trilogy of heroes in LUCKY IN LOVE, AT LAST, and FOREVER AND A DAY. I’ve written a badass special operative, an ex Chicago SWAT, and a tough-as-hell emergency room doctor, all of them, every single one, felled by the love of a good woman.

Oh the power I wield. LOL

So what is it for you, what brings you to a romance novel? Is it like me, for the sexy, infallible hero who falls in spite of himself? Or it is for the heroine, the relationships, the setting, the steamy hot stuff … what? Talk to me. One commenter will win a free book – good luck!
