Heather Sands from The Book Reading Gals shares favorite Holiday reads

I love reading holiday romances. There’s just something magic in the air at this time of year, especially when it comes to falling in love. My very cynical mother in law would tell me it’s because I meet and fell in love with my husband in December, but the truth is I have always felt this way.

As a kid I loved the fact that it was love that made the Grinch return all the presents to the citizens of Whoville. As a teenager I would glom all the romance Christmas stories. But what I really enjoyed reading was the Christmas love stories in series I already loved.

Here’s some of my favorite Christmas love stories.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I love this story because it’s really all about Ebenezer finding love again. I know most of you are wondering if you’ve read that right, but I’ve always thought the story was about Ebenezer not only finding love again, but also relearning how to love.

The Present by Johanna Lindsey. What isn’t to love about the patriarch of the Mallory clan finally getting his love, and the Christmas present in the form of their ancestors love story.

Holly by Jude Deveraux. I’ve been in love with the Taggert/Montgomery Series since I picked A Knight in Shinning Armor. Holly represents everything I love about this series, plus a great Holiday Romance.

Christmas on 4th Street by Susan Mallery. This is a new book out this year, and I absolutely love it. I’ve read it 3 times already it’s that good.

Debbie Macomber’s Shirley, Mercy and Goodness Christmas books. There were six of them in all, A Season of Angels, The Trouble with Angels, Touched by Angels, Shirley Goodness and Mercy, Those Christmas Angels, Where Angels Go.

To Do List by Lauren Dane is one that I have to read every single year. It’s one of her older books but oh so good.

Christmas Anthologies are also great, because we get a short sweet story about two people who usually already know each other and we get to watch as they fall in love.

Here are some great anthologies:

  • Naughty and Nice with Jaci Burton, Megan Hart, Lauren Dane and Shannon Stacey
  • Holiday Kisses with Shannon Stacey, Jaci Burton, HelenKay Dimon, and Alison Kent
  • Romancing the Holiday with Jaci Burton, Christi Barth, HelenKay Dimon
  • Christmas on Main Street with Joann Ross, Susan Donovan, Luann McLane, and Alexis Morgan
  • Naughty and Nice with Ruthie Knox, Molly O’Keefe, and Stefanie Sloan
  • Heating Up the Holiday’s with Lisa Renee Jones, Serena Bell, and Mary Ann Rivers

  • So what are some of your favorite Holiday Romances?
