I had the pleasure of catching up with Sara (known to her followers as the one and only Harlequin Junkie) earlier this week at RT. She’s been blogging for three years and this is her second convention!

Where are you visiting from?

Orange County, CA

Who are you most looking forward to seeing at RT?

Kesley Cole, Nalini Singh. Lisa Kleypas, too!

What are some of the places that you want to check out while you’re in New Orleans?

We [Sara and her husband] got here a little bit earlier,so we did some sightseeing tours, like the swamp tour… checked the French Quarter, Jackson Square. We went to Cafe Du Monde and tried the coffee and the beignets [huge smile] so I think I’m pretty much done with everything I wanted to do in New Orleans pre-RT, made sure that I had enough time available to connect with readers and authors the rest of the time.

What’s the best part about this convention?

I think it’s an opportunity to meet authors, but it’s also an opportunity to make industry connections–and I think they’re lasting ones. Like people I met for the first time that I know through Twitter, last year–we really keep in touch. It’s amazing. I met this lady–we happened to sit at the same table at Heather Graham’s party, out of the blue, that was the only table available, and we barely talked for 10 minutes in between events. This was on Friday, the convention was over on Sunday. So I said, “Oh, I’m Harlequin Junkie,” and she said “Oh, I’m this account on Twitter” and I went back home, and she has been amazing. She tweets every tweet that I post! It’s just a connection that was 10 minutes, but now it’s like, “Hey, I know you” [waves] and it’s a connection that came out of nowhere.

It’s connecting and meeting with people that you normally wouldn’t get to meet anywhere. It’s the fact that we all love books and you can stand in any line and have a conversation with anybody. You know, you can sit in a lobby and not feel lonely. I like that part of being at RT. You don’t have to worry about being on your own at a convention because you can just sit down here and talk to just about anybody.

Special thanks to Sara! If you love all things romance, make sure to stop by Harlequin Junkie’s blog!
