Grant Carter did everything in his power to convince Harlow Manning that he was a good guy. More than a smooth-talker and someone she could trust. He had to overcome his reputation as a playboy, and his history with Harlow’s half-sister, Nan, a woman with a reputation of her own.
Harlow had taken the chance, falling hard and fast for the guy who thrilled her with his all-consuming desire. After a lifetime of avoiding bad boys like Grant, she had opened herself to the possibilities of love…
But a life-changing secret has torn them apart, and now Grant and Harlow must decide if they have enough fight to make it work – or if the pain of betrayal has permanently destroyed their future.
This book was emotionally gripping and real. I was on her side, I was on his side, I was back on her side, and then I was all about team baby. I can’t help it, I’m a mom myself.
Harlow and Grant’s story was very real and very emotional. I felt their struggles as if I was living them myself which is testament to the amazing job Abbi Glines did at writing their story. I couldn’t put it down. There were times when life took me away from reading it and it was those times that I realized that I wasn’t 100% myself because part of me was still with Harlow and Grant.
This book picks up right where Take a Chance left us. Harlow is in hiding from Grant needing time to deal with the fallout from Grant’s reaction to her medical condition which she hadn’t told him. He found out because of the press surrounding her rock star father. Things were said, feelings were hurt and ties were cut. But that was far from the end.
Harlow now has another secret, one she is willing to share but not willing to let go of. She misses Grant and realizes that she wants him in her life and she loves him. The question is whether or not Grant can love her while letting her make her own decisions even if she is gambling with her health.
Grant is losing his mind being away from Harlow. He has tried everything to find her. He calls every night and leaves her a message, When he finally finds her and the truth is revealed he is determined to stay the course with her. The two find themselves back in love and back in each other’s arms.
Can Grant and Harlow give each other the strength and courage to face an uncertain future together? Or will fate give Grant a different girl to love and take away the one he needs to breathe?
I love Abbi Glines and she doesn’t disappoint in One More Chance. The raw emotion and the ups and down grip you and bring you right into the world of Rosemary beach. By now, book 8 in the series, these are my peeps. I care about them and love to check in. I can’t wait to see what Abbi has in store for us next. Also, call me crazy but I think I just un-hated Nan!
