Happy Holidays! R@R welcome’s guest Victoria Alexandra and her fall release WHAT HAPPENS AT CHRISTMAS, available at bookstores everywhere! Family. For me, it’s really what the holidays are all about. But what if your family isn’t quite up to snuff? And what if you’re trying to impress a prince with a perfect Christmas and an eccentric sort of family just won’t do? Well then, you do what Camille, Lady Lydingham does in What Happens at Christmas. You hire a troupe of actors to take their place. It seems like a brilliant idea. But Camille soon discovers how wrong she is, with a little help from her first love, Grayson Elliott. She also learns a lot about herself, about forgiveness, about love and family.
On Sale now! About the book: ’Tis the season for romance with three original holiday-themed novellas! Unwrap this festive eBook bundle and discover why these authors are quickly becoming the biggest names in the genre. Ruthie Knox tells a heartwarming contemporary story of first loves given the gift of a second chance; Molly O’Keefe releases the ghosts of Christmas past with a prequel to her novel Crazy Thing Called Love; and Stefanie Sloane weaves an irresistible Regency tale of fiery passion that burns deep on a cold winter’s night.
It’s all about the Mistletoe . . . . Ruthie’s Mistletoe Fantasies Through the Years: 1987 (age 10): Mistletoe? Forget about the mistletoe. Where are my presents? 1990 (age 13): Daniel Day Lewis, dressed in his Leatherstocking outfit, sweeping me into his arms for a violent kiss. 1993 (age 16): I just want somebody to kiss me. Anybody. I’m not choosy. Hey! You over there! 1999 (age 22): Seriously. Anyone. Bueller? 2005 (age 28): Yay, husband! Yay, marriage! *frisky smooching sounds* 2012 (age 35): Mistletoe? Forget about the mistletoe! Just wrap Kidlet’s presents and give me an hour to write. ~ Ruthie Knox, Bestselling Author of About Last Night

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. I know! I know! We still have Halloween with all the witches and goblins and trick or treating to do and then Thanksgiving with all the cooking and all the family coming home.
One of my favorite romantic comedies of all time is the movie While You Were Sleeping. This movie has everything: A likeable heroine. A handsome hero. A cast of quirky characters. And a secret. That’s right. It’s a story that revolves around a secret. The heroine allows the hero’s family to believe that she’s engaged to their son, who just happens to be in a coma and therefore cannot refute the claim. She keeps this secret all the way to the end of the movie, where she almost marries the “coma guy”, even though she has fallen in love with his younger brother. In the end the truth becomes a barrier that the lovers must surmount.
mas·cot [mas-kot, -kuht] noun an animal, person, or thing adopted by a group as its representative symbol and supposed to bring good luck: The U.S. Navy mascot is a goat. Silly topic, but not really, as I’ve been thinking about this — it seems that all important organizations have mascots, so to speak, right? KIA automobiles now has those adorable hamsters, as pictured above; Taco Bell had that little dog, what breed was he again? Taco Bell had a big promotion a few years back and I bought three or four of those stuffed cuties! Then of course, Geico’s lizard. . . and now I’ve noticed they’re using a pink pig in their commercials as well, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I suppose ‘Flo’ on those Progressive Insurance commercials is a ‘mascot’ of sorts — well, her robot … Continued
Where I live it is cold outside, which is appropriate for the Holidays – and honestly, I would NOT have it any other way for Christmas . .. . I love having a warm fire, hot cocoa, reading a book or watching a movie with family — for this time of year it is perfect!! Then, right around January 10th, I’m thinking a trip to a warmer climate might be nice . . . sunshine, warm weather to bike ride in . . .sight see, or of course, read a book by the pool – Time goes by of course, and I’m still at home, shoveling out the driveway and thinking, ‘well, if it would just stop snowing . . . .I could deal with Spring and new flowers, the smell of rain and new … Continued

I love the holidays — the smells from baking cookies, the cheer created as you’re decorating the tree, decorating your house; I love the music, the movies — I love the holidays. The problem is, I never get to start them when I want to . . . . my tree went up on December 4th, was that too early to put up my tree? Hanukkah is later this year, December 20 – 28 – is it too early then to put up a menora? The stores started decorating in July, well maybe Oct — but, they had Christmas items for sale back in August!! I should be able to put my tree up the day after Thanksgiving, don’t you agree? But the BIG question now is . . .when do you take all those … Continued

Christmas Memories I’m writing today and celebrating. This is an incredibly special Christmas for my family. My husband is finally home from Iraq and for the last time. The war is over, he won’t be going back. My kids have been little the first couple of Christmases my husband was gone. I doubt they remember the Christmas that he and I were both deployed. I remember it well. There were little Christmas lights hanging in the TOC (tactical operations center) and I distinctly remember a few lonely ornaments hanging on a tree outside the CHU (containerized housing unit) I was fortunate to share with my husband. Funny, I remember the green and the particular shade of blue of those ornaments. They stayed there the rest of the year but I remember seeing them that first … Continued
Dancing with the Stars! I thought long and hard about what special gift I wanted to give you all. My pocket book doesn’t allow for diamonds or a new Benz in the driveway. And my schedule is too tight to fit in an extra story. But I’ve got something even better. It’s a secret. A secret that needs to be told. You see, Julia Quinn and I love the nightlife. We love to boogie. That’s right; we’re disco dancing fools. It’s incredible aerobic exercise and, let’s face it, we look awesome in our bell bottoms and platform shoes. So just for you, we’ve put together a holiday dance routine. We hope that it brightens the holidays and inspires everyone to get on down to Funky Town and shake your groove thing! What is your fav … Continued
Building a Perfect Hero (or not) Back in the day, typical romance fiction heroes had flaws such as arrogance, being temperamental, or carrying emotional scars left over from childhood that made them unable to commit to a relationship. By the end of the book, though, these flaws were overcome, or at least, well understood by the hero and heroine. You never read about a hero with a physical deformity or an un-redeeming flaw. These heroes were all Greek-God gorgeous, every last one of them. No-one else needed to apply. Yet, as I turn the pages of my favorite romances today, I am discovering more atypical heroes – not in the sense of men with deeper internal flaws, but in their imperfect physical appearance. And I couldn’t be more thrilled. We have romance heroes who are … Continued
Ah…the holiday season. That time of year when we think of friends, of family, reflect on the year that has past, our hopes of the future…and, you know, wonder if this is the year you’ll finally find out what those hunky Scotsman really wear under their kilts. What? You have your annual traditions…I have mine! Having set many books on the bonny shores of my Henderson ancestors’ homeland, Scotland is dear to my heart. And not just because of the Kilt Question…though it certainly adds to the charm! I have visited in the vibrant green of spring, and the dark and windy winter. And loved every single second of it. My favorite spot is the Isle of Skye, which is like home to me. When I cross the bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh, I feel … Continued

My Xmas Confession Aka: World Building Isn’t only for Sf/F/Historicals With Bonus Recommendations Anybody who knows me, knows that I don’t celebrate Christmas. My holiday involves candles, spinning tops and fried potatoes, so my Christmas book reading habits might come as a surprise. First, if there’s a Christmas book released as part of a series, I’ll happily read it. Lauren Willig’s Mischief of the Mistletoe, Victoria Alexander’s ‘A Visit From Sir Nicholas’, Sherrilyn Kenyon’s ‘One Silent Night’, Suzanne Brockmann’s ‘All Through the Night’, Eloisa James’s ‘An Affair Before Christmas’, Robyn Carr’s ‘A Virgin River Christmas’, I’m looking at all of you. …and more. I think this comes from the fact that when you read a series, you get to know the characters and like to follow them and their celebrations, whether they happen to be … Continued
What Would Griswold Do? There’s a disturbing epidemic growing in America. One that affects thousands, perhaps millions (seasonally anyway). White Light Syndrome, commonly referred to as WLS, is taking over our neighborhoods, our towns and dare I say it….lives. Availability is nationwide. All the big box stores are perpetuating this travesty at low prices and BOGO deals. But don’t give in to the temptation; your family’s well-being depends on it. Those twinkling white lights might seem innocuous but they’re evil bunnies, rapidly multiplying when your back is turned—and sometimes when it’s not (they have no shame!) Don’t be Caught Unaware! (The outbreak first appeared above the porch.) Aren’t these homes and their lights so pretty, so pleasing to the eye? So festive and welcoming. Don’t. Be. Fooled. House of Horrors. Who knows what lurks inside? … Continued

How could I not begin this post with THE CHRISTMAS CAROL — one of my all time favs. When I was growing up in Milwaukee, WI, there were two things we always did to celebrate the holidays — travel downtown Milwaukee to the Milwaukee Repertoire Theater to watch the play, THE CHRISTMAS CAROL & we also celebrated by attending the NUTCRACKER Ballet, presented by the Milwaukee Ballet – woot! Memories . . . Now, I watch Snoopy on TV – I certainly have enjoyed Tim Allen in his Christmas movies – The Grinch is always a good one to keep the kids entertained . . . interesting that they never get scared —- Rudolph is fun; It’s a Wonderful Life is a classic; Jingle All the Way with Arnold Schwartzeneger was funny; Home Alone was … Continued
The Last of the Mohic… Uh, Sorry, Romance Bandits by Anna Campbell It’s our last day! Romance @ Random is still standing. Phew! Thanks again to Sue for being such a fabulous hostess. Seven Wonders of the Romance Bandits Lair by Anna Campbell We’re back, Sue! What a great day we had yesterday! Thanks again for inviting the Romance Bandits to invade Romance @ Random. As promised, no poetry today. I’m Anna Campbell (www.annacampbell.info), qualified Bandit wrangler. Just in case you missed out on yesterday’s post, the Romance Bandits emerged from the finalists in the 2006 Golden Heart Award. Happy Holidays, Sue! Thanks so much for inviting the Romance Bandits to play. It should be a fun visit (for us, anyway!). We’ve already booked you a massage with Sven the lair’s resident masseur and Paolo, who’s proven creative with tequila, is concocting a special Sue Grimshaw margarita. Oh, no, he just drank it. Bad Paolo! Bad! Now it’s back to the drawing board. And don’t think that hiccupping at me gets you off the hook, ragazzo! So over the next three days we’re taking a peek inside the lair at the Holiday plans of the Bandits. Keep an eye out … Continued
As a kid, I was a tomboy but that didn’t mean that I didn’t want the newest Barbie or the latest doll. I would get excited when the JC Penney Big Christmas catalog would arrive in the mail. I would spend hours going through the book and daydreaming about which Barbie I would get and what outfits she would wear. Granted, we didn’t have a lot of money so I knew that my daydreams were just that – dreams. But if I could get at least one of the Barbie’s I coveted, it would be a fantastic Christmas. Every year I would get a new Barbie and every year my bratty brother would break her. It got to the point where I had to hide my dolls from that little monster. My favorite doll that … Continued

Romantic gifts — we all love them! However, my idea of a romantic gift, might be somewhat different than yours . . . .this little bauble is nice, however, a Trek Madone might be more my speed *lol*. When I think of the typical sorts of gifts I like, I think of gifts in this order: 1- Flowers – love them — all of them, Roses are my fav – typical I guess. 2- Jewelery — heck yeah – I’m not stupid! 3- Something unique – specific for me, like . . . a Trek Madone 4- Chocolate – milk chocolate preferably, plain is best but I’m really not that particular (love Hershey’s) 5- Gift Card – to anywhere, but, a book store (online or bricks & mortar rock!) So what are some of your … Continued
