On The Shelf: Paranormal for Newbies

Paranormal romance is one of my all time favorite sub-genres. I love it: the world-building, the danger, the claiming and mating -- it’s the ultimate in reading escapism. We all know about the basics of paranormal romance (PNR) so this week’s On The Shelf is offering you some ideas that you may not have thought of.

Trope Talk: Virgin Heroes

We know what themes we like when it comes to our books. Themes are the lifeblood of a good romance novel. There are the new trends and old favorites, but we all have our favorite tropes: go-tos when we want to be almost certain we’ll love the book. Sometimes they’re our triggers and push all of our buttons, sometimes we auto-read based on a few descriptive phrases, but we know them and we love them. HADES: A Demonica Novella by Larissa Ione

"Knowing that the Demonica series is over packs a mighty punch to my gut, but also knowing that the series lives on in the novella's written by the very talented Larissa Ione softens the blow."

As we approach Valentine’s Day weekend, it seemed like a good time to share some of my favorite sex scenes. I thought I had this in the bag because I do have a small collection in my head. I could have chosen the down and dirty ones, but as I was going through the reel in my head, I realized that sexually explicit, raunchy romps aren’t always the most memorable. I love sex scenes when they’re the culmination of a particularly emotional moment between the hero and heroine, or when there’s some humor mixed in. So, in no particular order, I’d like to share a few of my favorites. ** warning explicit content.

REVENANT by Larissa Ione

Oh, how I love Larissa Ione. Her books are a thrill ride and her unlikely heroes always leave a lasting impression. Revenant is no different. As the final book in the Lords of Deliverance/Demonica series, I think the author definitely saved the best for last, because Revenant is mad and he wants everyone to know it.

An Interview with Author Shiloh Walker PLUS Giveaway!

Larissa Ione, EMT and meteorologist, is author of the New York Times bestselling Demonica series, and is half of the Sydney Croft writing duo. Larissa first met Shiloh Walker online. Then they met in person, possibly in a bar, which they won’t confirm or deny. They hit it off right away and enjoy their friendship—as long as they avoid talking about the medical field, where they both worked and have very definite and sometimes different opinions about the players in the profession. But that’s okay, because there’s plenty of other stuff to talk about, including a love of things spooky, things paranormal, and all things books—the edgier the better. Larissa’s latest book, Azagoth, is a June release. Larissa: Okay, so in Deeper Than Need Trinity jumps from the proverbial frying pan into the… Continue
